I decided to establish my business at Alihame, Agbor, Delta State. Alihame is a small community in Agbor. It is close to my father’s community and close to the city center but it is underdeveloped. It is a farming, hunting, and residential community with lush vegetation.
I met the community leaders and established a good relationship with them. One of the popular community leaders Percy Monday Edoki informed me that getting connected to the electrical grid requires payments as he manages the provision of electricity in the community. It is a remote area so it is not unusual to have private management of power supply. I had such a good relationship with my neighbors that I paid for myself and my neighbor to be connected to the power grid and authorized free connection for everyone. I also got concrete poles in contrast to wooden poles which were cheaper and prevalent.
I had a good relationship with other people and businesses such as the local pharmacy which was just a few poles from my office, a gentleman and his wife managed the pharmacy. I knew some other members of the community such as a gentleman nicknamed “Life Goes On” who sells lands, Fred who has businesses in Alihame including a POS Shop, the local vigilante group that regularly visits my office, and Police Officers from Agbor Police Command.
My business does more than service provision both locally and internationally. I regularly bring equipments for research but ensure the range does not exceed my company premises to avoid disturbing neighbors. I had a very good relationship with the community.
